The Ondo State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disregarded a court ruling by Justice Okon Abang, who ordered INEC to recognise Jimoh Ibrahim as the party’s official candidate in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in the state.

Okon Abang, often referred to by many as a notorious judge, had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to replace Eyitayo Jegede, the governorship candidate of the Ondo PDP, with Jimoh Ibrahim on October 14.

The PDP has however maintained that Eyitayo Jegede remains its gubernatorial candidate for the November 26th 2016 governorship elections, noting that any other candidate is a “counterfeit.”

“Eyitayo Jegede is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State. There is no controversy about it and any other person parading himself is a counterfeit,” Dayo Adeyeye, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, said at the official governorship campaign rally flag-off on Wednesday.

“His [Jegede’s] name is already with INEC and will be presented on the 26th of November 2016 when the governorship election is held. The officers of the Nigeria Police Force and the Directorate of the State Security Services all monitored the whole process where he [Jegede] emerged in Akure,” he added.
