In a fairylike wedding, American star Megan Markle was wedded to Prince Harry at the famed Windsor Castle.

In a wedding ceremony officiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, the whole of the royal family and a select cream of society were present to witness the historic occasion.

Wearing a dress by British designer Clare Waight Keller, Ms Markle was met by Prince Charles, who walked her down the aisle.

Among the 600 guests are Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney, David and Victoria Beckham and Sir Elton John.

Prince Harry, who is sixth in line to the throne, has been made the Duke of Sussex by the Queen. He also received the titles Earl of Dumbarton and Baron Kilkeel.

The day will end with a couple of receptions: one in the afternoon hosted by Harry’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and another at night hosted by his father, Prince Charles.
