Pinnick Apologises To Nigerians Over Eagles Ouster

President of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Pinnick, has pleaded with Nigerians to forgive the Super Eagles for failing to qualify for the African Cup of Nations for the second time in a row.

Nigeria missed the 2017 AFCON ticket on Tuesday night following a 1-0 loss to the Pharaohs of Egypt in Alexandria.

According to Pinnick, the team will now switch focus to the Russia 2018 World Cup.

“We are all disappointed we didn’t qualify (for AFCON 2017),” said Pinnick.

“The god of soccer did not smile on us. I believe Nigerians should forgive us for us to move on. The focus now is to qualify for the 2018 World Cup. We will keep the Eagles busy during the FIFA friendly windows ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.”

The draws for the tournament will be conducted in June with the qualifying tournament to begin in October.
