“I got a call from the Department of State Services (DSS) this evening,” the Spokesman said.

Recall that Afegbua had on Wednesday visited the police headquarters in Abuja in connection with a statement he issued on behalf of his principal on Sunday.

He was declared wanted by the Force after he quoted Babangida as asking President Muhammadu Buhari not to seek reelection in 2019.

Jimoh Moshood, spokesman of the force, had asked Afegbua to report to the nearest police station.

He was accused by the police of “making false statements, injurious falsehood, defamation of character and for an act capable of inciting public disturbance throughout the country”.

Speaking after the visit, Afegbua confirmed that the Police PRO Jimoh Moshood apologized to him on behalf of the Force for what he termed “mix-up”.
“The police said there was a mix-up somewhere, to have warranted me being declared wanted, and they apologised. They said they didn’t intend to harass me; that they didn’t intend to intimidate me,” he said.

On the N1 billion fundamental human rights suit instituted against the IGP, Ibrahim Idris and three others, counsel to Afegbua, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, in a chat with THE WHISTLER said they would reach a decision soon.
