Responsible Govts Don’t Negotiate With Terrorists – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said no responsible government would negotiate with terrorists and expect to defeat same afterwards.

Fayose said this a week after President Muhammadu Buhari was quoted by presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, as telling ousted United States Secretary of State, Rex Tillerson, that his administration had opted for negotiation to secure the release of Boko Haram captives.

Buhari had told Mr Tillerson during his visit to the State House in Abuja that his government would negotiate with the insurgents to secure the release of the remaining Chibok and Dapchi schoolgirls that were abducted by the insurgents from their hostels in Borno and Yobe States, respectfully.

“We are trying to be careful. It is better to get our daughters back alive,” the president was quoted by Adesina as telling the former U.S Secretary of State.

But Governor Fayose criticised the idea, saying terrorists don’t get crushed and defeated by negotiation.

“I have never heard of anywhere in the world where terrorism was defeated by negotiation. Responsible govt don’t negotiate with terrorists, it fights terrorism and crushes it totally,” the governor said in a tweet.
