Rights Group Accuses Nigerian Army Of Disappearing With Corpses Of 5 Killed Pro- Biafra Agitators

An Onitsha-based human rights group has raised alarm that soldiers from Onitsha Military Cantonment have disappeared with the corpses of about five members of the pro-Biafra agitators. They were allegedly killed last Thursday, when members of the group marched out to the Enugu/ Onitsha Expressway in the commercial town in jubilation over the unconditional release by an Abuja Federal High Court of their incarcerated leader and Director of Radio Biafra, Dr. Nnamdi Kanu.

The rights group, International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law ( Intersociety) further alleged that soldiers from the Cantonment stormed the hospital, Multicare Hospital, Nkpor where 13 other members of the group were receiving treatment for the injuries inflicted from gunshots fired at them by the soldiers and took them to an unknown place.

Attempt by this reporter to get the reaction of the Commander of the Military Cantonment, Col. Abdullahi, concerning the allegations, however proved abortive as he did not pick any of the several calls made to his mobile phone, though his phone rang.

About five members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and MASSOB were allegedly shot, while several others received severe gunshot wounds from operatives of the Joint Task Force ( JTF) whilst out on the Enugu/ Onitsha Expressway in jubilation over Kanu’s unconditional release ordered by the Court.
