Rio Olympics: Siasia Considers Inviting Musa, Ighalo

Head coach of Nigeria’s Dream Team VI, Samson Siasia has hinted on the possibility of including Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and striker Odion Ighalo on his team for next year’s Rio Olympics as overage players.

Football world governing body, FIFA, allows three over age players to feature at the Olympics, and the 44-year old is already assessing his options.

Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel had earlier declared his interest to play in the Olympics, but Siasia insisted he will only invite players playing regularly for their European clubs to his team.

Speaking on a television programme, Siasia said: “I’m still undecided on the areas that the overage players would be needed, but I’m happy that the likes of Ighalo (Odion), (Ahmed) Musa, are in top form now and I hope they will sustain it until the Olympics.”

The Olympic games will commence August next year.
