Real Madrid maintained their perfect start to the Champions League season as Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to pass the 500 goal mark and equaled an all-time club record to beat Swedish champions, Malmo 2-0, who were unbeaten in 11 home games before Wednesday.

The Portuguese star netted his 500th and 501st goals, beating Raul’s all-time record of 323 goals for the club, and also extending his record Champions League tally to 82.

“We clearly did not handle Cristiano Ronaldo well enough as he scored two goals,” Malmö coach Hareide told press men after the match.
