Ronaldo Tops Messi As World Highest Paid Footballer

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo, has been named the highest earning footballer in the world for the 2016-17 season.

The 32-year-old Portuguese earned $95.3million in that period, France Football announced.

The French outlet said it factored in wages, bonuses and income from advertising over the campaign, before releasing the figures.

Ronaldo’s fierce rival and Argentine star, Lionel Messi comes in Second place with $76.5million, ahead of his Barcelona teammate Neymar in third at $60.3million.

Real Madrid and Wales star Gareth Bale is in fourth spot on $41m and Argentina’s Ezequiel Lavezzi who plays for Hebei Fortune in the Chinese Super League is placed fifth on $28.5m.

Manchester United coach, Jose Mourinho, is the highest paid manager in the world within the time frame with 28million euros.

Ronaldo and his Portuguese teammates will host Sweden in an international friendly on Wednesday.
