Russian government said Tuesday that the resignation of the White House National Security Adviser, Michael Flynn over links with Kremlin, was an “internal business of President Trump’s administration”.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov was reacting to Flynn’s shock resignation over allegations that the General discussed US sanctions strategy with Russia’s ambassador Sergey Kislyak before taking office.

“This is the internal business of the Americans, it is the internal business of President Trump’s administration. This is not our business,” Peskov told journalists.

Michael Flynn, a retired three-star general, stepped down as President Trump’s security adviser on Tuesday over allegations for discussing the lifting of US sanctions with Kislyak.

Flynn, in his resignation letter, admitted to have “inadvertently briefed” Vice President Mike Pence with an incomplete information about the call with Kislyak.

The White House late Monday said Trump had accepted Flynn’s resignation.

CNN reports that President Trump was warned last month by the Justice Department on General Flynn’s involvement with Russia.

The move comes less than a month into his job, making him one of the shortest-serving senior presidential advisers in modern history.
