Senate Receives 2018 Budget Report

The Senate on Tuesday received the report of the 2018 Appropriation Bill, the Red Chamber says.

The 2018 Budget report was laid on the floor of plenary by the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje.

The report comes a day before the scheduled passage of the N8.6 trillion Budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2017.

Recall that the upper legislative arm had last week assured Nigerians that the 2018 Appropriation Bill will be passed on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.

Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Senate spokesman, made this known while addressing a press conference, shortly after last Thursday’s plenary.

“It was supposed to be laid this week, but they are putting finishing touches. They are being careful so as not to make mistakes. The report would be laid Tuesday and by Wednesday, we will approve it,” Abdullahi said.

“The good next thing is that it is the harmonised version (that would be laid). So whatever is laid in the senate would be laid in the house of representatives, and it would be considered and passed same time.”
