Senate Rejects Nomination Of U.S. Based Professor As NERC Boss

The Senate, on Tuesday, rejected the nomination of American-based professor, Akintunde Akinwande, as the head of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC.

Akinwande was rejected for his failure to attend confirmation hearing.

According to sources, the professor did not show up due to the fact that he was not consulted before the nomination was made.

While Akinwande was to be the chairman, the other nominees for the board appointment included Sanusi Garuba (vice chairman), Nathan R Shatti (commissioner), Dr. Moses Arigu (commissioner), Dafe C Akpeneye (commissioner), Prof Frank Okafor (commissioner) and Musiliu O Oseni (commissioner).
