Senate Summons IGP Over Failure To Arrest Those Behind Benue Killings

The Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, summoned the Inspector-General of Police IGP, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to appear before its committees on Police Affairs and National Intelligence, following the former’s failure to implement a resolution of the Red Chamber.

Recall that the senate had given the IG of Police a 14 days ultimatum to arrest perpetrators of the massacre in Benue State were.

The ultimatum expired on Tuesday and no arrest has since been made.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, while making the pronouncement, said the Police chief must appear before the joint committee, on Thursday.

Saraki said the issue would not be swept under the carpet.
