Senate To Buhari: Appear Before Us And Explain How You Want To Tackle Recession

As recession bites harder and more Nigerians faced with bleak economic prospect, the National Assembly has summoned President Muhammadu Buhari to appear before it and explain how it intends to tackle the challenge.

The House of Representatives got the concurrence of the Senate on Wednesday paving the way for the president to address a joint session.

The summon was after a unanimous vote at a plenary presided over by embattled Senate President Bukola Saraki.

It is expected that President Buhari who would the address of the joint session of the National Assembly, to unfold his regime’s plan on tackling the economic recession, the first in almost two decades.

The president is seeking emergency powers to deal with the situation and the briefing could enable the National Assembly take further legislative action on the request.
