Super Eagles care-taker coach, Samson Siasia has been given a target in order to be named the chief coach of the team.

The 48-year old was told on Wednesday that if he leads the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations ahead of Egypt, he will retain his current job on a permanent basis.

This information was disclosed by the chairman of the Technical and Development Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Chris Green in Abuja.

Nigeria is in second place, two-points behind Egypt and two ahead of Tanzania and Chad.

Green said: “Yes, it is true. We have no choice than to elevate him to the position of chief coach of the Eagles.

“We need total concentration and support to the coaching crew and the players to make this Operation successful,”Green added.

This decision by the NFF Technical and Development Committee, contradicts president Amaju Pinnick’s stance on indigenous coaches.

Pinnick had earlier stated that the country will never hire a local coach for the Super Eagles, following Sunday Oliseh’s shock resignation.

Meanwhile, Coach Samson Siasia is expected to announce his list of players invited for the match against the Pharaohs on Thursday.
