Strike: Saraki Meets Adewole, JOHESU Leadership
Senate President Bukola Saraki on Friday met with Isaac Adewole, Minister of Health and Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and Employment over the ongoing strike by the Joint Health Sector Union (JOHESU).
Negotiations between JOHESU and the federal government has been deadlocked, crippling activities in hospitals across the nation.
The striking workers are asking for parity in terms of salary with medical doctors, but the government through the Minister of Health said the demand is neither practicable nor acceptable, pleading that instead, salaries and wages of the health workers would be adjusted.
But the Senate President has now stepped in to mediate between government and the union, with a view to resolve the thirty-seven-day old strike.
Recall, that on Thursday, the Senate President also met with the leadership of JOHESU over the ongoing strike of joint health workers.

“It’s not in the interest of the country to have our hospitals closed.”
