Nigeria’s U17 team, the Golden Eaglets, suffered an embarrassing 8-1 defeat in the hands of England’s under-19s at the Suwon U-19 four-nation tournament in South Korea on Wednesday.
Taylor Moore opened the scoring for the English team, in the 19th minute before Adam Armstrong struck within a minute of the Moore’s opener to double the lead for the Three Lions, who were the better of both sides.
On 25 minutes, Chelsea striker, Dominic Solanke made it three-nil to England and three minutes later Armstrong got his second of the afternoon to give the English side a 4-0 advantage in the first half.
Callum Connolly and Patrick Roberts made it 6-0 barely five minutes after the break before Nigeria pulled one back through Abdulrasaq Yusuf, who fired in low shot from close range to reduce the deficit.
Armstong, currently on loan at Barnsley from Newcastle United, got his third of the game with 20 minutes to time.
Patrick Roberts then made the scoreline 8-1 to put the English top of the four-nation tournament after South Korea defeated Iran on Tuesday.
The Eaglets face Iran in their next game while England and South Korea go head to head on Thursday.
