In less than a fortnight, another nominee of President Muhammadu Buhari has rejected her nomination as an ambassador designate.

Mrs. Pauline Tallen, a former governorship aspirant in Plateau state and member, Board of Trustees of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has declined her nomination by President Buhari.

Tallen said she cannot accept the nomination given the poor health of her husband who has being sick.

“It is a hard decision I had to take but I have to, because he is my primary responsibility,” she said.

It would be recalled that Senator, Osita Izunazo, a former lawmaker from Imo state, had declined his nomination by President Buhari to the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) saying it was unfair and unjust.

Senator Peter Nwaoboshi told the Senate when presenting the report of the committee of the president’s nominees for the board of the NDDC.

According to Nwaoboshi, Izunazo told the committee he was not from an oil producing community in Imo State.

The rejection, observers said, shows that the Presidency is not thorough in vetting those it brings forward for clearance into positions. During the ministerial screening in 2015, The Whistler learnt that most of the ministerial nominees scaled the process because of party affiliation and because the Saraki leadership wanted to ease tension over how he emerged as Senate President against the party’s directive.
