After Tinubu’s Indictment, Oyegun Summoned To Aso Rock

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, was summoned to the Aso Rock presidential Villa on Friday after being accused of sabotaging national leader, Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s efforts of reconciling aggrieved APC members.

Oyegun met in camera with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House at about 3 pm.

Recall that President Buhari had assigned Tinubu to bring together aggrieved members of the party ahead of the 2019 general elections.

But in what came as shock to many, the Tinubu on Thursday accused the APC Chairman of sabotaging the mandate given to him by President Buhari.

Punch reports that the president’s meeting with Oyegun may not be unconnected with Tinubu’s letter to the embattled APC Chairman.

Tinubu had told Oyegun in the letter: “Disappointment greeted me when I discovered that you had swiftly acted in contravention of the spirit of our discussions. Instead of being a bulwark of support as promised, you positioned yourself in active opposition to the goal of resuscitating the progressive and democratic nature of APC”.

The APC National leader accused Oyegun of making it his personal ambition to “thwart my presidential assignment in” Kogi, Kaduna, Kano and Adamawa states where the party is facing crisis.
