There are indications that political turbulence is brewing in President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state of Katsina as the House of Assembly has removed Alhaji Aliyu Muduru as speaker.
Agency report indicate that Muduru was impeached by 23 of the 34 member House on Wednesday during plenary.
The House Majority Leader, Alhaji Hanbali Faruk, representing Katsina Constituency, moved the motion for the impeachment, and was seconded by member representing Funtua Constituency, Alhaji Abubakar Total.
Muduru was replaced by Alhaji Yahya Abubakar from Kusada Constituency as the new Speaker, and was immediately sworn in by the Clerk of the Assembly.
Similarly, the House Chief Whip, Alhaji Bishir Mamman Dutsin-ma was also removed and replaced with the member representing Daura constituency, Alhaji Nasir Yahaya.
