Trump Reacts To Florida College Shooting

United States President, Donald Trump, has reacted to claims by parents that American schools are no longer safe.

“My prayers and condolences to the families of the victims of the terrible Florida shooting. No child, teacher or anyone else should ever feel unsafe in an American school,” President Trump said in a tweet.

Parents in the country had said this after a gunman shot sporadically at people in Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Florida, United States, killing seventeen on Wednesday

The Florida shooting makes it the 18th school shooting in U.S this year, according to statistics.

The suspect was identified as Nikolas Cruz, a former student who had been expelled for disciplinary reasons from the school.

According to local reports, Mr. Cruz was arrested by the police near the Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school, where he was armed with an assault style AR-15 riffle.

The reports say shots came from inside and outside the school in parkland about 80km north of Miami, while the students fled and took shelter in a nearby walmart, as Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) team circled the building.

Twelve people were killed inside the school, two just outside, one on the street while two others died in the hospital.

Broward County Sheriff, Scott Israel said the victims comprised a mixture of student, and adults.

The governor of Florida, Rick Scott, during a press conference reacted to the tragic happening and described it as “absolute pure evil”.

US Senator Chris Murphy called for further action on gun control after the attack on Thursday.

Lashing out at his colleagues, he said: “Let me just note once again for my colleagues, that this happens nowhere else other than the United States of America’’
