Nigerians have taken to social media to blast Professor Wole Soyinka on comments he made few days back that he was going to destroy his American Green Card if Donald Trump was elected President.

The Nigerian Nobel literature laureate had earlier in the week said that he would cut up his green card if United States presidential hopeful Donald Trump wins the US presidency.

Soyinka is currently a scholar-in-residence at New York University’s Institute of African American Affairs.

The 82-year-old who spoke at the Oxford University in London, was quoted saying: “The moment they announce his victory, I will cut my green card myself and start packing up.”

However, in the early hours of Wednesday, Donald Trump was elected the 45th President of the United States of America in an historic and unprecedented election.

Nigerians have now taken to twitter, blasting Soyinka, telling him to keep to his words and start packing back to the country.
