Trump: This Isn’t About Religion, It’s About Terror And Keeping America Safe

President Donald J. Trump of the United States has restated that the ban on citizens from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen from entering the U.S wasn’t about religion but rather about fighting terrorism.

This, Trump said, in a statement as he tried to defend the growing backlash that his immigration ban was directly targeted at Muslims.

He said the executive action was “not a Muslim ban, as the media is falsely reporting”.

President Trump backed his claim citing ex-President Barack Obama’s ban on “visas for refugees from Iraq for six months.”

“This is not about religion — this is about terror and keeping our country safe,” he said, adding his policy was “similar to what President Obama did in 2011 when he banned visas for refugees from Iraq for six months”.

“We will again be issuing visas to all countries once we are sure we have reviewed and implemented the most secure policies over the next 90 days,” he said, adding that he had “tremendous feeling for the people involved in this horrific humanitarian crisis in Syria”
