Twitter on Tuesday announced a new feature that would let a user add virtual stickers to photos by just searching them like hashtags.

“Twitter has given them (virtual stickers) one unique twist: you can search them like hashtags. Tap on a sticker inside a tweet and you will be taken to a new timeline that shows you how it is being used around the world,” technology website The Verge reported on Tuesday.

Twitter’s stickers won’t show up by themselves in private messages or 140-character tweets, as standard emojis currently do. Instead, you apply Twitter’s stickers to photos in the network’s iOS or Android app during the photo-editing stage, before sharing them. And stickers aren’t available for images you share via direct message.

A user can resize, rotate and add multiple stickers to each post.

According to the microblogging platform, the new feature will be available to everyone soon.

Twitter has been facing stalled growth for some time now, the company’s management under new CEO Jack Dorsey has been doing everything to get the company back on its feet.

The company recently acquired a London-based startup Magic Pony Technology to expand its capabilities in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI), and just last week invested $70 million in popular music streaming service SoundCloud.
