U-23 AFCON: Osimhen Replaces Success As Team Jets To Dakar Today

FIFA U-17 top scorer, Victor Osimhen has been included in Nigeria’s squad for the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Senegal.

Osimhen, who had been on standby for the tournament was a late replacement for Granada striker Isaac Success who was not released by his club.

Meanwhile, Samson Siasia’s Dream Team VI will today depart from Banjul, Gambia where they have been camping for the past ten days for the CAF U-23 Africa Cup of Nations billed for Sen­egal.

The del­egation made up of 23 players, 10 accompanying officials, will depart the Banjul International Airport at about 11pm aboard Arik Airline for the thirty min­utes flight to Dakar, the secretary of the team, Sirajo Hassan said.

According to Hassan “the team is expected to play their last friendly game against the Gambian U-20 side, the Baby Scorpions today by 4pm (5.00pm Nigerian time), before departing.

“The team on arrival in Da­kar, will proceed to Mbour, venue of their first two group B games.

“The Dream Team VI will be­gin their quest to qualify for the Rio Olympics when they take on West African rivals Mali on Sun­day 29th November at the Caro­line Faye Stadium, in Mbour,” he said.

The finals will take place from 28 November to 12 December 2015.
