Nigeria’s dream team head coach Samson Siasia is confident his team will achieve the primary aim of qualifying for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, as they await the commencement of the U-23 African Cup of Nations in Senegal on Sunday.
The former Super Eagles striker who disclosed this to news men when the team arrived Dakar aboard an Arik Air, further urged the players that did not make the final squad not to relent in their career.
The 48-year old said, “Our aim is to qualify for the Olympics. If we are able to win the tournament, that will be a major boost to the team.
“I feel sad telling you guys to go, but the truth is that only 21 players will have to make the trip to Senegal, and these selected ones are those the technical crew have seen to be able to give us an Olympic ticket in Senegal.
“Don’t feel discouraged, go back to your clubs and keep on working on your game, you will have your chance to be part of the team.”
The Dream Team will kick off their campaign against Mali on Sunday, before battling Egypt three days after and Algeria on December 5.
