U-23 AFCON: Siasia Vows To Attack Egypt

Ahead of their crunch Group B clash against the young Pharaohs of Egypt at the ongoing U-23 African Nations Cup in Senegal on Wednesday, Nigeria’s Dream Team VI head coach Samson Siasia has charged his team to go all out against the Egyptians.

The 48-year old who disclosed this at a pre-match press conference held at the the Caroline Faye Stadium, M’Bour added that his players cannot afford to give out free gifts to the Egyptians as they seek to progress to the semi-finals of the competition.

He said: “We were damn lucky in our first game against Mali, after watching that game again, all I can say is that this is not christmas yet and as such my players cannot give out free gifts, because if we do that against an organised side like Egypt who are good in set pieces, then we are finished.

“Our target is to go all out and attack, attack, attack, because that is our strong point, then we will work on our defence line, so that we don’t give out cheap and easy passes to our opponents.”

The 2008 Beijing Olympics silver medalist also confirmed that FIFA U-17 Golden boot winner, kid Osimhen in his plans and will be introduced when the time comes.

“The young man [Osimhen] is in my plans, when the right time comes I will introduce him, he has a lot of potentials that I can tell you, but we need to wait for the right time, he is a part of this team,” Siasia added.

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Amaju Pinnick confirmed he will be cheering the team in Senegal as they tackle Egypt in Mbour, today.
