U.S Backs Buhari’s Regime Agenda

The United States has reiterated its support for the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari and has pledged to support it in the areas of defeating Boko Haram, anti-corruption and diversifying the Nigerian economy.

U.S ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Stuart Symington said this at the Working Level Meeting of the United States-Nigeria Bi-National Commission.

“I am pleased to say that we agree with Nigeria on the priorities of the Buhari Administration. We are focused on the need to defeat the Boko Haram insurgency, the fight against corruption, and the importance of successfully diversifying the Nigerian economy.

“The United States Government supports progress on all of these priorities, with a strong bi-partisan consensus that has been sustained over many Administrations.

“We will continue to advance this effort, working with Nigerians of all walks of life, in all parts of the country. We will do so because Nigeria’s success and prosperity matters to its people, to the Continent, and to the United States and the rest of the World,” Symington said.

the United States had officials from the Department of State, the Department of Defense, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The next meeting of the Bi-National Commission will take place in 2017 with a High-Level Meeting which will review the progress made and identify opportunities to strengthen the relations between both countries.
