Udom Accuses Buhari Of Swindling Akwa Ibom Out Of Federal Allocation

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has said despite the improved oil price of $61 per barrel, the President Muhammadu Buhari administration keeps short changing the state out of oil revenue allocation.

Udom said even though Akwa Ibom stands as Nigeria’s highest oil producer, the state is still being swindled by the current administration.

Speaking during the presentation of flags to the 31 People Democratic Party (PDP) local government chairmanship candidates at the Uyo Township Stadium, the governor said no party can “ensure fairness, justice and equity” in the political landscape of the country like the PDP.

“We are standing here as the highest oil producer in the country, but we have not seen anything from the government at the centre”, Emmanuel said.

“Today, oil price has gone over $61 per barrel. Last month, the allocation they gave to Akwa Ibom State was lower than what they gave to us a month before now. How can you explain that?

“It is only PDP that can ensure fairness, justice and equity in the country,” he said.

He told the chairmanship candidates of the December 2 council polls in the state to avoid violence and accept official results released by the State Electoral Commission.
