UNILAG Graduates to Pay N1000 Yearly For Uncollected Certificates

The University of Lagos has revealed that its graduates will start paying N1000 per year to collect their certificates from January 2019.

This was contained in a statement released on the school’s official website and approved by the vice chancellor Prof Oluwatoyin Ogundipe due to the accumulation of uncollected certificates.

“The vice chancellor approved the introduction of demurrage for uncollected certificates by graduates, six months from the day of graduation.’’ the statement read.

The statement further explained that past and fresh graduates of the university must collect their certificates before January 1, 2019, or face the penalty of N1000 every year.

However, this new enforcement has been criticised as the university is said not to have a system in place to automatically distribute certificates to graduates even if charges are involved.
