The year 2016 will remain a major landmark in the career of Starboy Entertainment CEO, Ayo “Wizkid” Balogun, as the singer adds another one to his sequence of Best African Act wins in a single year.
The Ojuelegba crooner on Sunday was named the Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards, which took place at the Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
The announcement was done via the MTV Base Africa twitter page ahead of the show.
Wizkid, who recently stole the show at the MTV Africa Music Award, where he won three awards beat stiff competition from Tanzania’s Alikiba, South Africa’s Black Coffee, Olamide and Cassper Nyovest.
The ‘StarBoy’, who was unable to make the trip to the Natherlands, accepted the award via a video, where he thanked his fans and the organisers.
Wizkid was also honoured at the MOBO awards held in London last week.
The ceremony which was hosted by Bebe Rehxa, saw performances fromThe Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Green Day, Kings of Leon, One Republic, Martin Garrix, Afrojack, Shawn Mendes, DNCE, Lukas Graham and Zara Larsson.
