UPDATE: 3 Dead, 19 Injured As Three-Storey Building Collapses In Lagos

Three people are feared dead and nineteen injured after a three-storey building under construction on Abimbola Street, Ilasa, Lagos State collapsed.

This comes barely two weeks after a two-storey under construction in Lekki area of Lagos collapsed, killing two people.

Confirming the incident, the general manager of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Adesina Tiamiyu, on Friday morning, said that nineteen people were injured in the wreckage which occurred around 2pm on Thursday.

According to him, all nineteen people were rescued from the wreckage following the intervention of his team and were taken to Isolo General Hospital.

He however revealed that three people were recovered dead, and were taken to the Lagos Mainland Mortuary Yaba.

“Three persons were recovered dead and were taken to Lagos Mainland Mortuary Yaba,” he said.

Tiamiyu revealed that some survivors were treated by the agency’s medical team and Lagos State Ambulance Service.

He said the immediate cause of the collapse was still unknown, assuring that investigations would be conducted.
