W/Cup Qualifier: Rohr Names Tough Squad For Zambia Clash

Super Eagles head Coach, Gernot Rohr has released the final 23-man squad for next month’s 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifying game against the Chipolopolo of Zambia in Ndola.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made this list available to the media on Thursday.

Rohr’s squad is dominated by same players that pipped Tanzania 1-0 in a 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match in Uyo on 3rd September, but there is a first-ever call up for Watford of England striker Isaac Success.

Also included are Alanyaspor of Turkey defender Kenneth Omeruo, Belgium -based midfielder Anderson Esiti and Arsenal of England sensation Alex Iwobi.

The 23-man squad includes goalkeepers are Carl Ikeme, Emmanuel Daniel and Ikechukwu Ezenwa.

Skipper Mikel John Obi, assistant skipper Ahmed Musa, Manchester City star Kelechi Iheanacho, Ahmed Musa and Victor Moses.

Also, Leon Balogun, William Troost-Ekong, Kenneth Omeruo, Jamiu Alimi, Abdullahi Shehu.

Others include Kenneth Omeruo, Elderson Echiejile, Ogenyi Onazi, Nosa Igiebor, Brown Ideye and Anderson Esiti.

However, Rohr excused Watford FC forward Odion Ighalo, who will attend his father’s burial in Nigeria on Saturday, 8th October – eve of the big match at the Levy Nwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

Invited players are expected to start arriving in Abuja as from October 2, 2016.
