We’ll Redeploy Staff, Not Sack – NNPC

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), on Sunday, said that it has no plan to sack any of its workers.

This is coming after news reports, attributed to the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, alleged that the management had plans to sack 1000 of its staff.

However, a statement issued by the Group General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Mr. Ohi Alegbe, noted that the report is misleading and untrue.

The statement read, “For the avoidance of doubt, what the Honourable Minister said at the meeting was that ‘as part of the reorganization programme of the corporation, half of the over 2,200 staff presently at the corporate headquarters would be redeployed to the subsidiaries with a view to making them more effective.'”
