West Brom Name Darren Moore As Manager On Permanent Deal

Darren Moore has been named as West Brom’s head coach on a permanent basis despite their relegation to the Championship.

The 44-year-old former West Brom defender was unable to save the Baggies from Premier League relegation, as they finished bottom of the league and finished with just 31 points.

The Birmingham native lost just once during his six games in charge, guiding his team to secured three wins over Manchester United, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur with draws against Liverpool and Swansea. He was also named Premier League manager of the month for April.

Despite losing the final game of the season to Crystal Palace, Moore received glowing referrals since replacing the sacked Alan Pardew in April.

Recall Pardew left the Baggies by mutual consent, after he failed to rescue the club from relegation danger this season.

Pardew was appointed the successor to Pulis on November 29 with the midlands club one point above the drop zone, but the ex-Newcastle boss was unable to transform their fortunes.

“We are delighted to confirm Darren as our new Head Coach and we look forward to his continuing the excellent work we saw when he stepped into the role in an interim capacity in the first week of April,” the Chief Executive of the club, Mark Jenkins said.

“I am obviously extremely proud to accept this role and also extremely excited; we have a big summer ahead of us, a lot of hard work we need to get in now. I’m going all out to try to get those plans and personnel in place to make sure we’ve got everything ready.” Moore said.

“And we need to be because this is a tough league packed with great clubs. But what an opportunity for us to move the club in the right direction.” He added.
