The co-convener of the #BringBackOurGirls (BBOG) group, Oby Ezekwesili has explained her experience during the search for the missing Chibok Girls in the Sambisa forest, Borno state.

The former minister, alongside three other members of the group, Aisha Yesufu, Manasseh Allen and Ibrahim Usman, joined the federal government’s team, headed by the minister of Information and culture, Lai Mohammed to witness first-hand the military’s ongoing search for the girls.

Ezekwesili, who wrote on her Twitter handle @obyezekwesil after the tour said the Sambisa forest was 18 times as large as Lagos State.

“WE are doing fine. We returned to Yola after a very full day of learning from NAF & going out with them on a Day Search of Sambisa. #BBOG.

“Dreaded Sambisa is massive. 60,000 square kilometers. 18 times the size of Lagos State! All of Lagos is 3,345square km. #BBOG” Ezekwesili wrote.

She noted that the capturing of Boko Haram stronghold, Camp Zairo, by the military in December last year, was not the same as capturing the dreaded Sambisa forest.

“The famous Camp Zairo in Sambisa?

“Well, it turns out that capturing Camp Zairo is NOT equal to capturing Sambisa.

“It is just a spot in there.”
