The presidency has explained why President Muhammadu Buhari was not invited for the inauguration ceremony of United States of America. U.S.A president-elect, Donald Trump.

The presidency’s explanation follows reports on the social media that Buhari was not invited to the inauguration ceremony because he does not enjoy international relevance anymore.

Buhari had further received backlash from the social media after his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan was invited as Nigeria’s representative at the ceremony.

In a statement released on Thursday by Buhari’s media aide, Malam Garba, the presidency said: “Gentlemen, I think we should respond to refute this falsehood. The US does not invite Heads of State or President to the inauguration of their Presidents. Our President could therefore, not have been snubbed.”

Trump will be installed as the 45th American president today, Friday, January 20, 2017. He defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the elections last November.
