Why I Dumped MMMG For Mavin – Iyanya

Latest addition to Mavin Records, Iyanya Onoyom Mbuk has revealed the reason he decided to join Don Jazzy’s crew despite numerous offers.

The 30-year-old entertainer on Monday announced he was joining the Mavin family and also released a new single “Up to Something’’ featuring Don Jazzy and Dr. Sid.

In an exclusive interview with Premium Times, the ‘Kukere’ singer revealed why he joined Mavin records and link up with Don Jazzy, one of Nigeria’s foremost music producers.

According to him, he chose Don Jazzy because he needed to work with someone who can help him fulfil his music ambition.

“We needed the Iyanya brand to work with somebody who understands the music industry and can help me fulfill that dream. Making sure that I get my music right is the most important thing.

“We needed somebody who can help bring the real Iyanya to life, the singing Iyanya but at the same time commercialise the music,” Iyanya said.

He continued, “I love Mavin because they are a family and I now see why they have been successful. They work as one and it’s a great family to be with.”

He further stated that he had several offers but decided to work with the Mavin boss.

“I have worked hard enough to have people call me up and promise to invest in my career. I had different offers but I let them go for something I was sure about; Don jazzy is a perfectionist.”

He squashed any suggestions that there was a bad blood between the CEO of his former record label, Made Men Music Group (MMMG), Uby Franklin.

“I will never disrespect Ubi for any reason in the world. I will also continue to pray for my former label and former band mates.”
