#WikeMustNotDie: Now Trending On Twitter

“An Instruction has been given to two police officer to make sure and that nothing will happen,” Wike said in an interview with Channels TV on December 4.

“I have written to the IG [Inspector General of Police] several times and the IG will not listen.

“Except they kill everybody and I know that they cannot kill everybody. There will be those that will remain. Just like they have boasted that they are going to assassinate me.”

The governor had allegedly blamed security agencies for launching a campaign of persecution against government officials in his state.

The Rivers State’s commissioner of Police, just yesterday (Monday) withdrew the governor’s Chief Security Officer, less than five days to the state’s legislative re-run elections.

The governor further confirmed that the Police High Command had withdrawn 200 out of the 250 policemen posted to the Government House, Port Harcourt.

“There is an agenda against the Rivers State. I have to defend my people. I have to protect my people,” Wike said.

The situation has now prompted support from Nigerians but within and outside the South-south state to throw in their support for the Rivers governor.
