‘Johnny’, produced by Selebobo, was released in 2014. It was in February 2018 adjudged the most viewed YouTube video by an African artiste.

The Mama Africa as she is fondly called said her first big break was winning the talent show in 2009 because it was time for her to turn her hobby into a career.

Alade said that her next big break is writing a proper song that will eventually get released – “Ghen Ghen love”.

“The music industry for me is like a big school. You never really graduate until you quit. The most beautiful thing for me is getting recognition for the music.

“There are levels to every big break. My first big break was winning a talent show in 2009.

“On a global scale, my biggest break in terms of music will be Johnny now, it has the most views by an African artiste.

“It’s an exciting experience now, it’s getting one to 1.5 million views every month.

“I feel very happy. It encourages me to keep working. I feel like the day I stop working is the day that the views will stop counting,” she said.

The singer further said that women in the music industry have become more consistent and the sector is still male-dominated.

She also revealed that she had never been intimidated by the male artiste, instead, she has been inspired by them.

“Here in Nigeria, I still believe the music industry is male-dominated. The females have become more resilient, consistent and stronger.

“We are doing so well and I’m super happy to be part of this generation at this time when females are coming out in their numbers,” Alade added.

Alade said she will embark on a tour of Europe later in 2018. She is expected to perform in 15 venues in eight European cities.
