Yobo Joins Kano Pillars

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Kano Pillars, has signed former Super Eagles skipper, Joseph Yobo.

The former Everton and Fenerbache defendern signed a deal with the League Management Company (LMC), to play for an NPFL team, in order to promote and add value to the domestic league.

The 35-year-old, who won 101 caps for the Super Eagles was chased by IfeanyiUbah FC, Akwa United and Wikki Tourists, but rather decided to join the four-time NPFL champions.

“[Joseph] Yobo has not been confirmed as our player yet because we are still in talks,” Pillars media officer, Idris Malikawa, told Goal.

“We told the League Management Company about our interest to have him in our team and we hope anytime soon, he teams up with us.

“Yobo on his own part wants to play for Kano Pillars and once an agreement has been reached, we will let everyone know.”

Born on September 6, 1980, in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, Yobo has played for Marseille, Everton, Fenerbache and Norwich City in almost two decades of his rewarding career.
