As part of ways to ensure that there is maximum security in the country during the Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has urged Nigerians to be extra vigilant and security conscious during the festivities.

A statement signed by the Commandant-General, NSCDC, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, further warned Nigerians to resist the temptation of picking strange things found around them especially attractive objects.

Muhammadu noted that due to the insecurity in the country, attractive objects placed at strategic locations, is one of the desperate moves that Boko Haram has resorted to, as they plan to conceal Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in these objects.

He also warned that the terrorists have now focused their attacks on targets such as motor parks, schools and entertainment centres.

The NSCDC boss said, “Based on this all, citizens should not rely on security agencies alone for protection but should be security conscious and provide useful information to relevant security agencies.”
