Strike: Properties Destroyed As Thugs Attack NLC Office In Kaduna

The office of the Nigeria Labour Congress has been allegedly attacked by hired thugs, in a bid to disrupt the ongoing protest.

Workers in the state had embarked on a five-day strike, to protest against the decision of the state government to lay-off thousands of civil servants in the state.

The Congress said its office was attacked by some hired thugs on Wednesday being the third day of the five-day strike.

The Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Muhammad Jalige confirmed the arrest of 20 of the thugs who invaded the office, Daily Trust reports.

Meanwhile, the President of the Congress, Ayuba Wabba had accused the Kaduna state governor, Nasir El-rufai of hiring thugs to distrupt the protest on Tuesday.

Wabba said that based on credible intelligence received by the NLC, the governor had hired one Mr Hassan to lead thugs to disrupt the workers protest.

El-Rufai, had claimed that the NLC President and other union leaders were in hiding over alleged economic sabotage and attacks on public infrastructure in his state.

Recall, NLC had on Monday insisted that there was no going back on its five-day strike action which began on Monday.
The strike action have paralysed major activities in the state as schools, water, banks, hospitals, electricity, rail and air services were shut down.
