Sunday Oliseh Sacked As Fortuna Sittard Coach

Dutch club, Fortuna Sittard have sacked their Nigerian head coach Sunday Oliseh.

In a statement on their official website on Wednesday, the second division club revealed that the decision to sack Oliseh was not particularly about the results no longer going his way, but more of his interpersonal relations with others at the club.

“The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer (Oliseh) towards several persons in the organization.

“Several attempts by the club to move the trainer to other behaviour were unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation,” the statement read.

The board of Fortuna Sittard further emphasized that the decision to sack the Super Eagles legend was not motivated by the current sporting performance which has seen them lose four games in a row.

“Because of his inadmissible actions, the coach has made the cooperation with many people within the organization impossible.

“From players to employees. Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else”

The 43-year-old former Nigerian coach had led the Dutch team to win its first trophy in 23 years, as they were crowned Second Period champions in January 2018.

Recall that Oliseh left the Super Eagles as head coach in February 2016 after falling out with several players and some Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) top officials.
