Sunshine Fires Coach, Technical Crew

Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) side, Sunshine Stars has fired manager, Samson Unuanel.

He was sacked alongside the technical director, Henry Abiodun.

The duo were shown the exit door following their inability to work together.

This medium learnt that there has been serious internal wrangling between Samson Unuanel and Henry Abiodun since the beginning of this term in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The Akure based club are yet to win a game this season, losing two and drawing three of their five games, the last was a 2-1 loss to newcomers MFM FC on Wednesday at the Onikan Stadium, as they are languishing in 18th position on the NPFL log.

“Coach Samson Unuanel and Henry Abiodun have been sacked by the board of the Ondo State Football Agency,” the club announced via its media officer Wahab Bankole on Thursday afternoon.

“Both have been at loggerhead for long and that has affected the team’s performance since the season started, little wonder the team is in the relegation zone – a position that is embarrassing for a team like Sunshine.

“Their row have affected the psyche of the players who have not justified the investment of the state government.

“Sunshine Queens handler Kayode Olujohungbe have been appointed the interim coach of the team and will be in charge when we [Sunshine Stars] host Ifeanyi Ubah in Sunday’s NPFL encounter in Akure.”
