Super Eagles:NFF To Contact Emmanuel Amuneke, Salisu Yusuf For Coaching Job

Following the abysmal performance of the national team in the AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is looking to boost the team in the technical area by hiring either Emmanuel Amunike or Salisu Yusuf as assistant coach to support Gernot Rohr.

The Eagles looked pale tactically in the two games and this has led the NFF to see the need to supplement the technical team with either of Amuneke or Yusuf.

Complete Sports reports that an NFF official said the association would open talks with Emmanuel Amuneke or Salisu Yusuf to support Gernot Rohr.

“Having seen the technical report from the coach and taken into consideration the observations from the meeting with the sports minister, we shall open talks with either Emmanuel Amuneke or Salisu Yusuf to support Rohr.

“We have to look at the possibility of getting either of the two experienced coaches to join the technical crew. We shall contact them first to know if they are interested in joining the team and if they are, we will discuss terms with them and pick the one who fits into our plans. The Super Eagles will also get a psychologist, physical trainer and video analyst as part of the backroom staff.

“The decisions to boost the Super Eagles technically stems from the way the team collapsed after leading Sierra Leone 4-0 after 30 minutes, only for the game to end 4-4 and the return leg ended goalless. We hope the additions to the technical crew will help the team greatly.”
