Super Green FC Makes History, Seal Promotion To American Soccer League

Super Green football club of Maryland, United States have made history, by becoming the first team to be promoted to the professional American Soccer League, ASL.

The amateur club side, which has a Nigerian head coach and Director of Operations, Richard Opanuga, became one of the nine clubs in the ASL.

The American Soccer League (ASL) is a developmental league that provides American soccer players with professional playing opportunities as well as a direct pathway into the major soccer leagues around the world.

Adam Manning, VP, League Operations, said last week during the league conference in New Jersey, that the Super Green football club will be playing out of Maryland state zoning as a professional side during this season at American Soccer League.

“This vision align with our core values and we are committed to pursue this dream as we forge ahead and storm the professional soccer landscape in America,” Opanuga said, adding that the club will remains committed to excellence.

He explained that the SGFC made history due to its difference in youth development through the ASL affiliation.

The SGFC has won all the titles in amateur league in the northeast of America before being drafted by the American Professional Soccer league.

​The league commence in March 2017 for the spring season.
