Uzodinma, who contested the March 9th guber election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) came a distant forth at the polls, while Ihedioha contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Uzodinma insisted that he scored the highest number of votes in the election, but the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returned Ihedioha as the governor of the state

According to the apex court in its declaration, the votes due to Uzodinma was unlawfully excluded from the 318 polling units and be added to his votes.

In a unanimous decision by the 7 man panel delivered by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the submissions of a Principal witness who was on a subpoena to present results held that the lower court was wrong in its ruling.

Justice Kekere-Ekun, while reading the lead judgment, declared that Uzodinma is the validly elected Governor and the certificate of return issued to Ihedioha be withdrawn.

Recall that Mbaka had prophesied that there would be a twist of the governorship election and that the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the last election, Senator Hope Uzodimma would be sworn-in as the governor of the state.

Addressing thousands of members of his congregation, he said the 2019 APC governorship candidate would dislodge the incumbent governor of the state, Ihedioha of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Mbaka told the catholic faithful, “no prophecy has ever been declared on this prayer ground without coming to pass”, while also advising those who may find the message unpalatable not to come after him.

According to him, many things will happen in Nigeria this year that will shock Nigerians.

His words:  “In spite of all that would happen this 2020, there is hope. In Imo State, there is hope. Hope, hope, hope … hope in Imo State. Imo people have suffered (but) God is raising a new hope that would be an agent of salvation for them.

“He’s coming with a new flag to restore the dignity of that noble land. A new leadership that will break barriers and there would be joy in the land of Imo.

“Lift your candles as I bless Hope Uzodinma; and I empower him to, spiritually, to take over. How, I do not know.

“Please, if you heard that there would be a new government in Imo and you don’t like the message; if I say Hope, you can say hopeless but do not fight me.

“I am saying this in respect of those who may want to come after me because of the message. If you do that, the God of Moses, Elijah and Elisha will deal with you. I am only a messenger of God”

It could be recalled that Mbaka, who in his New Year message on Tuesday crossover night, repeated that Uzodimma would be sworn in as governor of the state, had predicted President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory during the 2015 New Year Message, which he entitled:  “From Goodluck to Badluck”

But reacting to the Mbaka’s prophesy, Ihedioha dismissed the prophesy, saying he was unperturbed about it.

Imo state commissioner for Information, Felix Ebiliekwe, who responded behalf the governor dismissed Mbaka’s prophesy.

He said that neither the governor nor his aides and appointees were disturbed by the cleric’s prophecy.

Ebilikwe said that apart from Uzodinma coming a distant fourth at the polls, his petitions at the Elections Petitions Tribunal and his appeal at the Court of Appeal against the declaration of Ihedioha as the governor of the state by the Independent National Electoral Commission were “summarily dismissed.”

He expressed optimism that the apex court would equally dismiss Uzodinma’s appeal before it, hence there was no room for fresh evidence and prayers in the appeal.

Ebilikwe advised Mbaka to face his spiritual calling and leave politics alone.

“The governor is not disturbed. The government and people of Imo State are not disturbed. Imo has been liberated and the governor is busy at a very fast pace rebuilding the state.

“Senator Hope Uzodinma’s petition at the court of the first instance, Elections Petitions Tribunal was dismissed. His appeal at the Court of Appeal was thrown out for want of merit. The supreme court will equally do the same because there will not be any fresh evidence to be filed.

“I will suggest to Revd. Fr Mbaka to face his spiritual calling and leave politics alone. Imo is in save hands. The things the governor has been able to do in seven months have shown and is very clear to the blind that Imo is being rebuilt. The governor is not disturbed by the priest’s prophecy.”
