Supreme Court Decides Zamfara Governorship Review Today

The Supreme Court would be ruling on the application of the All Progressive Congress, (APC) asking the court to review its earlier judgement on the Zamfara state governorship election.

A seven-man panel led by Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad, is presiding over the review application filed by counsel to the All Progressive Congress, Robert Clerk.

Mike Ozekhome (SAN), is representing the 1 to 140 respondents (Kabiru Marafa faction of the APC).

The apex court had nullified all the candidates fielded by the APC in the Zamfara elections, on the grounds that they did not conduct primary election according to law, thereby enthroning the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The Abdulaziz Yari and Kabiru Marafa’s factions had been at loggerheads in the state prior to the elections.

Ozekhome had asked the court not to review its judgement on the grounds that a Supreme Court judgement was final.
