Suspected Killer Of 17-Years Old Enugu Student Arrested By The Police

A security guard has been arrested for killing a 17-year old senior secondary student in Enugu State.

The security guard, who is said to be known as Vitalis Ilo, reportedly killed the student for plucking cashew nuts in a cashew plantation in Akama community in Enugu.

The student that was killed was identified as Ugochukwu Oduburu and is said to be a student of Government Technical College GTC Akama in Ezeagu Local Government Area.

Oduburu had gone to get cashew nuts from the plantation when the security guard saw him and shot him to death.

The State Police Command spokesman, Ebere Amaraizu in an interview explained that the incident happened on February 17, 2018, and that investigation was still going on.

Amaraizu said that the deceased was a part-time cashew nut picker and he had gone to pick up cashew on the day he was shot by the suspect.

Further investigations revealed that the suspect used a single barrel locally made gun to shoot the deceased.

Amaraizu said that another person was killed inside the bush and the body was abandoned there too. The suspect is now helping the police in investigating the murders at the Cashew plantation.

The father of the deceased, Anthony Oduburu, commended the State Police Commissioner for arresting the suspect on time.
